Roman Government
For two thousand years the Roman Government was mostly the same! Here's a bit on the Roman Government:
*The main people in charge were two men called consuls, (Women were not allowed to be consuls), the consuls controlled the army, they decided whether to start a war and how much taxes to collect.
* And there's the Senate, the consuls got advice from the Senate. Women were not allowed to be a Senate either. When you became a Senate you are a Senate for the rest of your life. The majority of consuls eventually become a Senate.
*There were also Prefects, they ran the city, and were supposed to speak for poorer people, in the Senate.
*And then there was the Assembly of all the men, (no women!), men that were grownup, free, and were citizens of Rome.
What is Government?
1. The governing body of a nation, state, or community.
2. The system by which a nation, state, or community is governed.
-Taken from the dictionary
Why would we/Ancient Rome have government?
Mostly to keep things in control, and for someone/people to be there to help people, and keep everything organized, fair, and safe. Without government, things could get crazy!

How Does Government Influence Your Life?
It affects your daily life majorly. Government determines which way your town, city, county, etc. runs. Government makes laws, that citizens must follow, so if you government has a law that you have to wear a helmet when motorcycling or riding a four wheeler, you have to follow that law. Without laws, it would be crazy, people would be doing whatever they wanted, it would be mayhem! But, with a Government your city, town, etc. is much more organized, and controlled. Something you might do, like not buckling up, will be affected, if you Government has law that you have to buckle up, you're going to have to start buckling up. Government majorly influences your life, what they say, you do, that may sound harsh but Government is good, some laws you may not like but, but laws are there to keep communities safe, and controlled.
